MLB: Rangers beat Red Sox to take wild-card lead

By DAVID JIMENEZ
Associated Press Writer

ARLINGTON, Texas — Ian Kinsler homered and drove in two runs, Dustin Nippert pitched six solid innings and the Texas Rangers passed Boston in the AL wild-card race, beating the Red Sox 4-3 Sunday.

The Rangers took two of three in the weekend series to move a half-game ahead of Boston.
Kinsler, back in the lineup one day after he was hit by a pitch that ricocheted off his head, went deep for the second straight day and had an RBI single in the third that gave Texas a 3-1 lead.
Taylor Teagarden also connected to help the Rangers win for the seventh time in 10 games.
Nippert (4-1) gave up two runs and six hits to beat the Red Sox for the second time in a month.
