NFL: Rams’ Avery to miss 4-6 weeks

Associated Press

ST. LOUIS — The St. Louis Rams will be without No. 1 wide receiver Donnie Avery for 4-6 weeks because of a stress fracture in his left foot.

The injury could mean Avery will miss the first two regular season games. He was hurt in Friday’s scrimmage.
Avery became the Rams’ top receiver when After Torry Holt left as a free agent in the offseason. The second-year player had 53 catches for 674 yards as a rookie.
Keenan Burton, Ronald Curry and Laurent Robinson are among those competing for a starting job at wide receiver, along with veteran Tim Carter and rookie Brooks Foster.
