Thyne named Maui County Fire Department assistant chief

KAHULUI, Maui —The County of Maui Department of Fire and Public Safety has announced the promotion of David Thyne to assistant chief of support services. The position was last held by Alan Pascua, who retired in December.

Thyne joined the department in 1987 and served the Lahaina district and Training Bureau. He was named captain of the Kihei Fire Station in 2002 before being transferred to Paia Fire Station in 2005. He was promoted to battalion chief in 2008. Thyne earned both his associate and bachelor degrees in Fire Science in 2007.

Thyne and his wife Catherine have three daughters: Jessica, 19, Andrea, 18, and Ciara, 14.
