Big Island Fire Department rescue crews searched Saturday for a missing spear fisherman off Kailua, Kona. The 49-year-old man is a visitor from San Francisco. The man's wife and diving partner reported him missing off Alii Drive at about 11 a.m.

Firefighters found items identified as apparently belonging to the missing diver but no sign of him. The Fire Department personnel searched until about 5 p.m.

Big Island police are continuing the investigation.
