Green jobs event tomorrow on Kauai

A free event on Kauai tomorrow includes a panel discussing a "green agenda" for the island, a farmer's market and swap meet, a showcase for green products and services, and mingle time for campaigning politicians.

The event at Grove Farm Park in Puhi is part of a national green jobs day of action, The Big Tent Kukakuka 'Ohana said in a release.

Here are the activities:

— Farmer's Market-Swap Meet: 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

— Showcase for Green Products & Services: 11 a.m.- 4 p.m.

— Meet and Greet Candidates for office: noon-1 p.m.

— Green jobs panel discussion: 1-3 p.m.

Food, activities for children and live music will be provided throughout, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The panel discussion will address "opportunities created by the very obvious challenges of rising fuel and food costs, global climate change and economic instability."

Panel speakers will include: Glenn Hontz, Kaua'i Community College Office of Continuing Education and Training; Ben Sullivan, Apollo Kaua'i; Keone Kealoha, Malama Kaua'i; Beth Tokioka, Kaua'i County Office of Economic Development; and state Sen. Gary Hooser, D-Kaua'i-Ni'ihau.
