Advertiser Staff

Multiple charges are pending against a 23-year-old man arrested yesterday in Kaimuki for allegedly robbing two young teenage boys and spraying the older brother of one of them with pepper spray.

Police are currently holding the suspect on an outstanding $150 warrant pending charges for two counts of second-degree robbery and second-degree assault. The suspect, who listed no permanent local address at booking, was arrested at 3221 Waialae Ave. at 3:30 p.m.

According to police, the man allegedly confronted two boys, ages 12 and 13, and put his arm around one of them. He allegedly searched the backpacks of both boys. One of the victims managed to call his older brother on a cellphone.

The brother confronted the suspect and fought him. During the fight, the suspect allegedly pepper-sprayed him, police said.

The suspect has one prior criminal conviction, according to Hawai'i Criminal Justice Data Center records.
