Man shot in Waipahu home-invasion robbery

A 37-year-old Waipahu man was shot in the garage of his home during a home-invasion robbery in Waipahu at about 9:30 Tuesday night, police said.

The shooting occurred at 94-1027 Hapapa St., police said.

The victim told police he encountered the man, a stranger who appeared to be in his 20s, in his garage moments prior to the shooting. He was taken to a hospital in serious condition, according to city Emergency Services spokesman Bryan Cheplic.

Three suspects, all masked, were at large following the shooting, police said.

No arrests had been made in connection with the case as of 10:30 this morning.
