Kauai Ocean Safety promotes 4, hires 3 others

Kaua'i County's Ocean Safety Bureau last week announced the promotions of four people and hiring of three others.

Those promoted were Norman Hunter, supervisor of the east district; Gerald Hurd, supervisor of the southwest district; Mark McKamey, supervisor of the north district; and Randy Ortiz to training officer.

The new hires are water safety officer Jeffery McIntosh, and lifeguards Jeffery Maddox and Garrett Stephens.

The Ocean Safety Bureau has 45 people on staff and mans 10 lifeguard towers, said the bureau's supervising officer Kalani Vierra.
