State boards discipline 12 with fines, probation

State boards and commissions that oversee professions and vocations last month levied $12,000 of fines on individuals and firms that didn't perform up to the standards prescribed by law.

The actions included:

  • The Hawai'i Medical Board fined Dr. Lynn N. Carlton $1,000 and placed Carlton's license on probation for three months. It also fined Dr. Alin V.P. Ledford $1,000 and ordered license probation for three years and compliance with terms of the Department of Navy's order suspending clinical privileges and requiring supervision.

  • The Board of Pharmacy asked Gregory S. Arencibia to voluntarily surrender a license.

  • The Contractors License Board sanctioned Young's Pacific Builders Inc. and Young Dal Kim $2,500. It also fined Polynesian Pole & Custom Homes LLC and Frank A. Stiller $2,000 and ordered Yama's Roofing Inc. and Brian P. Peterson to pay a $2,500 fine and repaint a roof.

  • The Board of Public Accountancy revoked the license of Marjorie A. Bush.

  • The Real Estate Commission suspended the license of Shawn R. Fransen for two years and levied a $2,000 fine. Fransen is also to take and successfully complete a course in ethics prior to application for reinstatement of suspended license.

  • The Board of Chiropractic Examiners fined George Ermano Raquel $500 and ordered Raquel to comply with continuing education requirements.

  • The Board of Nursing asked Katharine M. Whitmore to voluntarily surrender a license. It also suspended for one year the license of Laura M. Schooley and said Schooley will attend and complete, at her own expense, a board-approved drug rehabilitation program.

  • The Motor Vehicle Repair Industry Board ordered Jim Falk Motors of Maui Inc. to pay a $500 fine and pay $386.23 in restitution.
