INDIANAPOLIS The Indianapolis Colts placed rookie running back Mike Hart on injured reserve Wednesday, ending his season.

To reinforce the depleted backfield, the Colts promoted Chad Simpson from the practice squad and re-signed Clifton Dawson, who was cut in August. They waived defensive back Nick Graham to make room for Dawson on the roster.

Hart, a sixth-round pick from Michigan, hurt his right knee on Sunday against Baltimore.

Outside linebacker Tyjuan Hagler, who won the starting job last season, was scheduled to practice for the first time on Wednesday. But starting left guard Ryan Lilja was not yet expected to resume practicing. Both have been on the physically unable to perform list since training camp opened.
