Makakilo man charged in standoff

Advertiser Staff

A Makakilo man was charged with abuse of a family/household member after a five-hour stand off ended peacefully.

The man, David Domzalski, 51, posted $1,000 bail yesterday morning after being arrested at his home on Ala'a Street in Makakilo.

Police were called to the home because of what was described as a domestic dispute. The man's 37-year-old wife called police and reported her husband had put his hands around her neck in a choking manner and shoved her during an argument.

When police arrived about 9:30 p.m. and went to speak to the man, the officers "distinctly heard the sound of the racking of a firearm," police said.

Police set up a perimeter and the Specialized Services Division was called in. Eventually the man walked out of the home without incident at 2 a.m., police said.
