The Hawaii Medical Assurance Association is offering free flu vaccinations to members through its statewide Flu Prevention Program.

HMAA members have more choices of location this year and can receive the vaccinations now through November at scheduled clinics at Longs Drugs or Safeway store locations (see box).

Through January 2009, members can also walk in or schedule an appointment at any of the seven Safeway locations with pharmacies to receive the vaccination or employers can arrange on-site clinics for HMAA members to receive the flu vaccination.

To receive the vaccinations, members must present their HMAA card and be 18 or older with a valid photo ID.

For employers interested in hosting an on-site employer clinic, there must be a minimum of 17 eligible HMAA members (employees and/or dependents) participating at one location to qualify. Non-HMAA members may also receive the vaccination for $25 payable at the time of the on-site clinic. Shots will be administered by registered nurses or pharmacists. For more information, call HMAA at 591-0088 or toll-free at 800-621-6998.

HMAA serves more than 3,200 businesses statewide.
