McLachlin shoots 73, six shots back in PGA tourney

Honolulu's Parker McLachlin shot a 1-over-par 73 and was six shots behind leader Jeff Overton in the first round of the Turning Stone Resort Championship today at Atunyote Golf Club in Verona, N.Y.

The tournament is part of the PGA Tour's Fall Series.

Overton, who started at the 10th hole, made three birdies on the front side to take a one-shot lead over Michael Allen and Steve Allan.

McLachlin, who was tied for 43rd, had three bogeys (Nos. 2, 3 and 11) and two birdies (Nos. 8 and 12).

Kane'ohe native Dean Wilson is not playing in the tournament.
