A man who appears to be in his 20s was in critical condition after being pulled from ocean waters at the "Gas Chambers" surf site on O'ahu's North Shore.

City paramedics were called to the surfing spot between Ehukai Beach Park and Rocky Point, about 6:40 a.m., said Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the city Emergency Services Department.

Cheplic said the man was brought to shore by fellow surfers.

Paramedics took over CPR efforts and transported the man to a local hospital in critical condition earlier this morning.
