KONA
Tractor-trailer driver, 75, died of heart attack

A 75-year-old Big Island man who was driving a tractor-trailer that crashed Tuesday died of a heart attack and not injuries related to the crash, according to autopsy findings released yesterday.

Police Traffic Enforcement Unit supervisor of investigations Sgt. Christopher D. Gali said the death of Takeo Nagamine of Holualoa will not be counted as a traffic fatality.

Nagamine was driving a north-bound 1992 Kenworth tractor-trailer that veered off Queen Ka'ahumanu Highway, 333 feet north of the 94-mile marker in the Kona district, at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.

He was pronounced dead at Kona Community Hospital at 12:32 p.m.
