Associated Press

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Chiefs running back Kolby Smith was carted off the field with a sprained knee today in the second quarter against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Smith started in place of Larry Johnson, benched for disciplinary problems.

Kansas City was leading 21-3 when Smith got hurt. He hurtled into the line on a first-down run and gained 5 yards before he was tackled by safety Will Allen.

Earlier in the game, Smith scored on a 1-yard run.
