Victoria's Secret to open in 2009

Advertiser Staff and News Services

Victoria's Secret, the lingerie seller who elevated sales of women's undergarments with high-profile models and televised fashion shows, will open its first store in the state in fall 2009, Ala Moana Center announced.

The Columbus, Ohio, company plans to open one of its flagship stores here, selling its well-known line of bras and panties, along with its Victoria's Secret Beauty line of cosmetics, skincare, and fragrances. It will also sell loungewear and sleepwear.

The store will be in a 20,000 square-foot space on the mall level of Ala Moana. The store will be about four times larger than the typical Victoria's Secret stores, which average about 5,100 square feet in size, according to the company's Web site.

"They've been on our wish list for nearly a decade," said Sharon James, regional vice president of marketing for Ala Moana owner General Growth Properties.

FREE TAX PREPARATION OFFERED

Liberty Tax Service is offering free tax preparation for taxpayers who normally don't file returns, but need to do so to receive a rebate under the tax stimulus program.

Liberty Tax Service, a national chain with offices in Wahiawa, 'Aiea and Hilo, is offering to prepare tax returns at no charge until Monday for select taxpayers who have no tax liability. Those taxpayers, including low-income workers and those who received Social Security benefits or veterans' disability compensation, pension or survivors benefits received from the Department of Veterans Affairs in 2007, will be eligible to receive a payment of $300 ($600 on a joint return) if they had at least $3,000 of qualifying income.

Qualifying income includes Social Security benefits, certain Railroad Retirement benefits, certain veterans' benefits, and earned income, such as income from wages, salaries, tips and self-employment. While these people might not normally be required to file a tax return because they do not meet the filing requirement, they must file a 2007 return to receive a rebate.
