Gabe Jacobo hit a three-run home run and Jeff Hannah batted 3 for 4 with two RBI to carry Sacramento State over Hawai'i, 5-2, today to complete a doubleheader sweep and take a 3-0 lead in the four-game Western Athletic Conference series.

The Rainbows lost the opener, 6-4.

Josh Slaats (0-3) went 3 2/3 innings, allowing two runs, six hits and two walks for UH (9-18 overall, 2-5 WAC).

Brian Smith allowed a run on six hits and three walks with three strikeouts in four innings for the Hornets (9-14, 4-3).

The Rainbows wasted little time getting on the board, scoring in the first. Jon Hee led off with a triple to right and scored on Ryan Morford's single to left to make it 1-0. Morford took second on a wild pitch and Kevin Macdonald walked. But Morford was forced at third on Alex Myers' bunt to the pitcher. Jeff Van Doornum then grounded to short for an inning-ending double play.

The Hornets tied it in the second on one out back-to-back doubles by Tim Wheeler and Jeff Hannah. They squandered a big inning when they had the bases loaded but Slaats got Travis Kirkman to pop out to short and Hannah was picked off third by catcher Landon Hernandez to end the inning.

The Hornets took the lead in the fourth. Wheeler tripled to right-center and scored on Hannah's single off the first base bag to give Sacramento State a 2-1 lead.

Sacramento State padded its lead in the fifth on Jacobo's three-run home run off Jayson Kramer.

Hawai'i got one in the sixth against Alvaro Orozco. Jeff Van Doornum led off with a single and took second on a wild pitch before Brandon Haislet flied out to center and remained there when Landon Hernandez grounded out to the pitcher. After taking third on a wild pitch, Van Doornum scored on Shane Hoey's single to left to make it 5-2.
