The state Health Department today confirmed an outbreak of Norwalk virus or norovirus earlier this month at Leahi Hospital.

Investigators reported there were 12 cases of Norwalk virus at Leahi from March 2-12 but the cases were confined to one ward, said Health Department spokesperson Janice Okubo. Preventive measures were implemented to control the spread, Okubo said.

The Health Department said there were no deaths at Leahi directly caused by Norwalk virus.
