The Department of Education plans to adjust school attendance boundaries in 'Ewa Beach, shifting more students into 'Ewa Beach Elementary and away from Keone'ula Elementary.

The DOE Leeward District office will discuss the proposal with parents and the community at a meeting from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Keone'ula Elementary School cafeteria.

There are 782 students currently at Keone'ula, which has a stated capacity of 739 students. The school opened in January 2007.

Meanwhile, there are 378 students at 'Ewa Elementary, which has a capacity for 729 students.

The DOE projects that in the upcoming 2008-2009 school year, there will be 857 students at Keone'ula, and 287 at 'Ewa Beach.

The proposed redistricting would not force those already attending Keone'ula to move to 'Ewa Beach Elementary, but would affect those attending school after the 2008-2009 enrollment date.
