Advertiser Staff

MA'O Farms in Wai'anae is recruiting for its College Internship Program for a two-year commitment for young people ages 17 to 24 from the Wai'anae Coast.

Interns will be sent, tuition-paid, to Leeward Community College to earn their associate's degree. They will also receive tutoring and mentoring and be provided with employment at the organic farm for 17 hours a week. They will be paid $500 a month.

MA'O Farms officials say applicants do not have to be "A" students. But they are looking for area young people who have the potential to succeed in higher education, who are interested in connecting with the culture and the land, and who have a desire to learn about caring for the 'aina and the community.

For information, call 696-5569. Applications can be downloaded at www.maoorganicfarms.org.
