Hawaii church holds vigil to mark 5th year of Iraq war

Advertiser Staff

"A Vigil for Peace Remembering the Fifth Anniversary of the War in Iraq" will be held at Calvary by the Sea beginning at 7 p.m. Friday.

The vigil will include a service of word and prayer for peace, organizers said.

Calvary By The Sea Lutheran Church has held Vigils for Peace several previous years on the anniversary of the U.S. invasion of Iraq. Friday's event will be the third such service.

The date of this year's vigil was chosen to coincide with the World Day of Prayer.

The Vigil for Peace is open to anyone in the community.

Calvary By The Sea is located at 5339 Kalaniana'ole Highway at East Hind Drive in Aina Haina. Plenty of on-site and street parking is available. For more information contact the church office at 377-5477 or Bob Joseph at 956-8531.
