New play equipment installed at city parks

Advertiser Staff

The city has completed installation of new play structures with slides and climbing features at four neighborhood parks, according to a news release.

The structures are in the Peter Buck Mini Park and the Kanoa Street Mini Park, both in Kalihi-Palama; the Puunui Community Park in the Liliha-Kapalama area; and the Hauula Community Park.

Related work included installing resilient surfacing, new waste cans, signposts and chain link fencing, relocating some utilities and minor modifications to irrigation systems to accommodate the new play apparatus.

The cost of the project was $320,000.

The City has accelerated its repair and maintenance of play structures around the island. Residents with concerns about play structures in parks may notify their local district park office. Numbers are listed in the telephone directory.
