Michelle Obama, wife of the 2008 Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama (D-Illinois), has been tapped to co-host "The View" live, at 9 a.m. June 18 Hawai'i time on KITV4, the ABC affiliate here.

This appearance will be Mrs. Obama's first as both guest and co-host. She will be seated alongside all five co-hosts.

"The View" features Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Sherri Shepherd. It's the original forum in which women discuss everyday issues and share their no-holds-barred opinions and engage in colorful conversations.

History was made Tuesday when Sen.Obama — who attended Punahou School and has Hawai'i ties — became the first African-American to earn a major party's nomination after he clinched the Democratic presidential nomination by gaining enough convention delegates.

Sen. Obama made a second guest appearance on "The View" on March 28.
