A 30-year-old man has been charged in connection with an apparent road rage incident Friday in Hawai'i Kai in which a motorist was allegedly punched in the mouth.

Tobius J. Davies, also known as Tobias Jason Davies, is accused of first-degree unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle for allegedly reaching into the complainant's vehicle to punch him in the mouth. Bail is $50,000 pending an initial appearance tomorrow at District Court.

The 47-year-old male complainant told police he exited the H-1 Freeway and was stopped in the middle lane of traffic on Kalaniana'ole Highway when the suspect drove his vehicle next to his, waved a finger and swore at him. The suspect then drove his vehicle in front of the complainant, got out and struck him before driving off.

The incident was reported at 8:05 a.m.

Davies' 15 prior convictions include felony firearm offenses and reckless endangering.
