PUKALANI
DLNR chief will give public briefing tonight

Department of Land and Natural Resources chairwoman Laura H. Thielen will be the featured guest at tonight's meeting of the Governor's Maui Community Advisory Council.

The public meeting will begin at 5 p.m. at the Mayor Hannibal Tavares Community Center in Pukalani.

Thielen will provide an update on DLNR's initiatives to protect and enhance natural and cultural resources on Maui and around the state. She will also address efforts to protect coastal and marine life, including regulations for aquarium fishing, bag limits, establishing fish replacement areas and creating a no-take herbivore list.

Members of the Maui advisory council are chairwoman Madge Schaefer, Kalei Sombelon, Kathryn Ghean, John Henry, Barbara-Ann Keller, Carl Lindquist, Lori Ululani Sablas, Shan Steinmark and Gail K. Takeuchi.
