CFB: Montana quarterback says Romo gave advice

Associated Press

HARRISONBURG, Va. — University of Montana quarterback Cole Bergquist says he got a little advice from Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo before he took the field in the Football Championship Subdivision semifinals on Friday night.

Bergquist told the Great Falls Tribune that Romo left a message on his cell phone Thursday night and included the message: "good things happen when you throw at the running back."

Bergquist did just that in the third quarter, as running back Chase Reynolds caught a 27 yard touchdown pass, the first touchdown reception of his career at UM.

The Griz senior says his sister knows a friend of Romo's and set up the call. Romo played for Eastern Illinois, an FCS school.

Montana beat James Madison 35-27 to advance to the national championship game against Richmond, a 21-20 winner over Northern Iowa on Saturday.
