Oahu home prices little changed despite big drop in sales last month

The Honolulu Board of Realtors today reported relatively stable median sale prices for O'ahu homes sold last month despite a big drop in the number of homes sold.

Single-family homes sold last month for a median $594,500. That was second lowest this year, after $590,000 in September, but represented only a 2.5 percent decrease from $610,000 in November 2007.

Condos sold last month for a median $316,200. That also was second lowest this year, after $296,000 in September, but represented a 0.4 percent rise from $315,000 in November 2007.

The number of single-family homes and condominiums sold last month was the lowest for any November since 1997. There were 170 single-family home sales last month, a 30.6 percent decline from 245 a year earlier. There were 201 condo sales last month, down 47 percent from a year earlier.
