LANA'I
Interisland ferry facilities were dedicated last week

The state Department of Land and Natural Resources held a dedication ceremony last week for the new interisland ferry facilities at the Manele Small Boat Harbor.

The port serves the ferry that operates between Maui and Lana'i, carrying visitors and commuters.

Construction began in November 2006 and finished this month. The $13 million project included a new comfort station; administrative office; paved access roads and parking areas; water, sewage, drainage and utility improvements; a new covered waiting area; and other features.

The Federal Transit Administration provided $10.6 million for the work.

Maui Master Builders Inc. was the project contractor, while Bowers-Kubota Management served as construction manager and Bow Engineering and Development Inc. as design consultant.
