Advertiser Staff

Roadways in the immediate area of the Waikiki Fire Station have been closed since 7:48 p.m. while HFD hazardous materials specialists try to determine the contents of chemical bottles left in a box at the station.

The following roads are closed:

  • Kapahulu Avenue from Kanaina to Kuhio avenues.

  • Leahi Avenue from Kapahulu to Monsarrat avenues.

  • Paki Avenue from Kapahulu to Monsarrat avenues.

HFD spokesman said the roads are closed for safety reasons.

The box contained 15 different bottles of unknown chemicals, Johnson said.
