Warrior walk-ons get their chance: video

Advertiser Staff

With one week remaining in spring football practice, walk-ons to the University of Hawai'i football team try to impress coaches.

Walk-ons Richard Torres, Nathaniel Nasca, Les Soloai and Bryce Kalauokaaea talk about what they must do this week and their progress so far.

Coach Greg McMackin said this Saturday's Ohana Festival will be very important for the walk-ons.

"We have about 30 walk-ons and it's gonna be tough," McMackin said. "We're going to cut some guys who are already on our team. ... I hate to do it."

"In the pros, you're cutting out a guy's livelihood. Here you're cutting their heart because they've worked so hard in the spring."
