Bruins 2, Canadiens 1

BOSTON — Marc Savard came off the bench on a delayed penalty to score with 9:25 gone in overtime tonight and the Boston Bruins beat the Montreal Canadiens for the first time this season, winning 2-1 in Game 3 of their first-round playoff series.

Tim Thomas made 27 saves, stopping several shots at close range in overtime, and Milan Lucic also scored for Boston.

Alex Kovalev had a power-play goal and Carey Price stopped 29 shots for the Canadiens, who had beaten the Bruins in all eight games in the regular season and the first two of their best-of-seven playoff series.

The Bruins haven't won a playoff series in three previous appearances since 1999; two of those three times they lost to Montreal. This year, the domination was even more complete: In losing all eight regular-season matchups, Boston didn't have the lead in a single game, for a single second.

Devils 4, Rangers 3, OT

NEW YORK — John Madden scored 6:01 into overtime to get the New Jersey Devils back into their first-round series against the New York Rangers.

New Jersey beat the Rangers for just the second time in 11 games this season, and will look to tie the series in Game 4 on Wednesday night. The series will then shift back to New Jersey on Friday.

New Jersey's Sergei Brylin made it 1-0 in the first, and Patrik Elias and Zach Parise scored power-play goals 2:23 apart in the second.

Rangers rookie Brandon Dubinsky scored his first two career playoff goals, getting New York even at 1-1 and 3-3. Sean Avery scored for the third straight game.<

Flyers 2, Capitals 0

WASHINGTON — Martin Biron kicked Alex Ovechkin's power-play wrist shot away in the first period, used the handle of his stick to deflect Alexander Semin's breakaway attempt in the second, and sprawled on his back while corralling the puck with his left arm to thwart Dave Steckel in the third.

The Philadelphia Flyers are going home with the series tied and their goaltender leading the way. Biron made 24 saves Sunday for his third shutout in four games, leading a 2-0 victory over the Washington Capitals in Game 2 of their Eastern Conference first-round series.

R.J. Umberger and Jeff Carter scored first-period goals on odd-man rushes, and the Flyers limited league MVP favorite Ovechkin to five shots.

The loss ended the Capitals' eight-game winning streak, as well as a victorious run of seven in a row at home. Game 3 is Tuesday in Philadelphia.

Flames 4, Sharks 3

CALGARY, Alberta — Owen Nolan scored with 3:45 left as the Calgary Flames rallied from a three-goal deficit early in the first period and beat the San Jose Sharks 4-3 tonight.

Ryane Clowe, Patrick Marleau and Doug Murray scored in the first 3:33 against Miikka Kiprusoff. Veteran backup Curtis Joseph then replaced Kiprusoff and shut down the Sharks the rest of way.

Jarome Iginla, Daymond Langkow and Dion Phaneuf scored for the Flames, who took a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven first-round series.
