KALIHI KAI
Fire damage put at $450,000

Advertiser Staff

Fire damage to an auto repair and detail shop on Auiki Street totaled $450,000, according to Capt. Terry Seelig of the Honolulu Fire Department.

The fire is still under investigation but investigators have determined that there was $250,000 in damage to the contents of the building in Kalihi and $200,000 to the structure, Seelig said.

"They had specialized equipment like diagnostic computer equipment, a race car and motorcycle," he said. "That made it a pretty high content damage loss."

Fire broke out at the building about 1 a.m. Wednesday. A man who lives above the shop had to be rescued from the roof.
