WAI'ANAE
Grant proposals being sought

Honolulu officials are still seeking grant proposals aimed at improving and assisting Leeward and Wai'anae Coast communities.

Approximately $2.5 million has been earmarked for the area in the form of benefits from the island's municipal landfill, which is on the Wai'anae Coast.

Individual grants from $25,000 to $100,000 will be awarded for public-service activities designed to address the area's homeless population, people with addictions or special health needs, low-income families and people who are unemployed.

Applications must be filed no later than 4 p.m. Oct. 15.
