Home-repair loans available

The Big Island county Office of Housing and Community Development is accepting applications for its Native American Housing Assistance and Self-Determination Act Home Repair Loan Program.

The loans can be used by Hawaiian Homes lessees for roof and termite damage repairs, electrical or plumbing work, sewer improvements and installation of a solar water heating system in conjunction with repairs.

Loans range from $2,500 to $50,000 at rates ranging from no interest to 3 percent depending on the borrower's age and income.
