A SECRET FOR THE MASSES

It's no secret that "The Secret" has created a cult-like buzz across the globe — and its Rules-of-Attraction message has reached Honolulu. "I go back and watch bits and pieces of it all the time, just to get me jazzed and excited all over again," says Michael Bradley of Kaimuki. The movie was released on DVD ($34.99) and as streaming video at www.thesecret.tv ($4.95) a year ago, and last week, the DVD sales hit the 2 million mark. "The Secret's" gist is that you can have whatever you want — cash, love, you name it — by altering your thoughts and visualizing your goals, and feel good in the process. New-Agey recycling of ancient knowledge or a marketing gold mine? We're not telling.

KING OF ALL LOCAL MEDIA

With the OC16 show "Dis-n-Dat" and a radio show and podcast at www.disndat media.com, budding media mogul Kutmaster Spaz (you may have seen him as the VERY excited supermarket customer in the Hawaiian Miles ad) and creative director Erwin Baracao, aka Dr. Wiz, are expanding their mini-empire. Now on stands is Dis-n-Dat the bi-monthly magazine. Like its broadcast counterparts, the 40-page glossy focuses on entertainment, fashion and positive lifestyles, giving health and fashion advice alongside interviews with local movers and shakers.
