‘AIEA
Coach: Mike Yen
Key players: Capri Holiona (5-7, jr., center/forward); Natasha Helsham (5-8, so., guard).
Notes: Nä Ali‘i return all five starters from last season — Holiona, Helsham, Jennifer Yuen (5-3, jr., guard), Michelle Shiroma (5-1, sr., guard), Nohe Fonoti (5-8, sr., forward).
Style of play: “We have play-making ability with post-perimeter size,” Yen said. “They have a lot of experience.”

KAPOLEI
Coach: Jessie Baugh
Key players: Ashley Dela Cruz (5-7, jr., forward); Danielle Tapat (5-5, fr., guard); Tani Foki (5-9, jr., forward).
Notes: Dela Cruz, an OIA West second-team member last season, is a prolific scorer with great range, and provides leadership ... Foki is quick for her size and can score inside and out ... Tapat will defend the other team’s best offensive guard.
Style of play: “We’ll have a half-court game, move it around and try to get outside shots,” Baugh said.

LEILEHUA
Coach: Elroy Dumlao
Key players: Brittaney Stafford (5-8, sr., guard/forward); Cassey Borromeo
(5-2, jr., guard).
Notes: Stafford is the only returning starter. She’s the leader and expect the Mules to go to her in crunch time … The Mules have only three seniors … Marquesha McVea, an OIA West second-teamer last season as a junior, moved to Mainland.
Style of play: “We’ll spread the court and try to have our guards penetrate the lanes,” Dumlao said. “Our inside game isn’t as effective as the past two years (without the 6-1 McVea). We’ll try to score more in transition because we’re smaller.”

MILILANI
Coach: Scott DeSilva
Key players: Chantel Tanuvasa (5-9, sr., forward/center); Joleen Realin (5-6, jr., guard/forward).
Notes: The Trojans will rely heavily on Tanuvasa and Realin, the only returning starters, for offense. Realin was an OIA West second-team selection last season ... Tanuvasa, the daughter of former NFL defensive lineman Maa Tanuvasa, is mobile and provides much needed height ... Realin is versatile, aggressive and has good basketball sense.
Style of play: “Since we have a lack of experience and a lack of height, we’ll try to play more controlled ball,” DeSilva said. “We won’t be able to run up and down the court with these teams. We have to be smarter. We’ll run when we can.”

NÄNÄKULI
Coach: Eric Nakabayashi
Key player: Sasha Montez (5-6, jr., guard).
Notes: Montez and Lahela Sylva-Kanasuguku (5-3, sr., guard) are returning starters … Montez can play all five positions and is the team’s top scorer. She can shoot the 3 and take it to the hole.
Style of play: “We’ve been trying to spread the court because we don’t have the height to compete inside with a lot of teams,” Nakabayashi said. “Defensively, we play a straight up man-to-man.”

PEARL CITY
Coach: Mike Morton
Key player: Jazmin Pahukoa-Malia (5-8, sr., guard); Desiree Luis (5-4, sr., guard).
Notes: Pahukoa-Malia brings athleticism and scoring punch to the Chargers. She can shoot the 3 and drive to the basket ... Luis is the primary ball-handler.
Style of play: “A mixture of everything; a lot of man, a lot of zone,” Morton said. “We’ll mix it up a bit and keep our opponents off-balance.”

RADFORD
Coach: David Lane
Key players: Marlena Malepeai (5-6, jr., guard); Brittini Fuller (5-4, jr., guard); Ta Nitra Byrd (6-0, fr., center).
Notes: Malepeai, an OIA West first-team selection last year, is a solid outside shooter ... Byrd is a strong post player ... Fuller, an OIA West second-team member last year, is a defensive stopper ... Malepeai and Chelsea-Ann Villanueva (5-8, jr., forward) are three-year varsity players.
Style of play: “We have a certain style; we like to play pressure defense and fast break on offense,” Lane said. “There are no projects on this team. Everyone gets time in every game.”
