Slain woman, 56, is identified

By Rod Ohira
Advertiser Staff Writer

A homeless woman who was found beaten to death at Kahana Bay Beach Park was identified yesterday as Linda Hannon, 56.

Two Kane'ohe men found Hannon's body Feb. 25 near the fishpond about 2 p.m. She died from massive head injuries, an autopsy determined.

Police have opened a homicide investigation; no one has been arrested.

Lt. Bill Kato, supervisor of Honolulu police homicide investigations, said investigators are canvassing the area between Ka'a'awa and Punalu'u, where Hannon lived the past 10 years. She rode a bicycle and was often seen collecting bottles and cans in the area.

Anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area of the fishpond Feb. 25 or with information about the case is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 955-8300 or *CRIME on a cellular phone.
