Gov. Linda Lingle has released $564,000 for repairs and improvements at the Hawai'i State Veterans Cemetery.

Improvements will include repairs to the roadway, drainage system upgrades and repairs to the sloped area behind the columbarium.

"Improvements to the Hawai'i State Veterans Cemetery are critical in order to properly honor those who lost their lives for the freedom we enjoy today," Lingle said in a written statement.

The Hawai'i State Veterans Cemetery, in Kane'ohe, is the final resting place of 2,354 Hawai'i veterans.
