LAHAINA
Meeting focuses on road project

Advertiser Staff

Residents on Maui who want to comment on the realignment and widening of Honoapi'ilani Highway, the main traffic artery in west Maui, can attend a public meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday at Lahaina Intermediate School.

The state Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration are in the scoping process for the work from Ma'alaea to Launiupoko. The project could increase road capacity, repair shoreline erosion and help guide land-use and preservation policies.

Residents can comment on an environmental impact statement preparation notice at the meeting or before the close of the comment period June 22.
