HAWAI'I KAI
Right-turn lane to be discussed

Advertiser Staff

A public hearing will be held June 26 on the state Department of Transportation's plan to add an additional right-turn lane from Keahole Street onto Kalaniana'ole Highway. The meeting will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the Hawai'i Kai Public Library meeting room.

Two years ago, the state began planning to add a westbound, blocklong, dedicated right-turn lane, which requires purchasing land from Kamehameha Schools. The project is expected to cost about $2.8 million due to the land purchase.

The hearing will be on the state's needed Special Management Area Use Permit. For more information call 768-8025.
