WAIKOLOA
Man charged in rifle shooting

Advertiser Staff

Big Island police charged a Waikoloa man with reckless endangering and a firearms violation for allegedly firing several shots from a rifle during a scuffle in the Waikoloa Village parking lot early Saturday.

Police charged Christopher Copp, 22, in connection with the shooting. Police also arrested and later released a 21-year-old woman.

Police said an "affray" erupted in the complex parking lot, and a man fired several shots into the air. No one was injured, and the man who fired the weapon fled. Police later found a loaded rifle in a vehicle in the area.

Police ask anyone with information about the case to call Detective Kenneth Quiocho at 326-4646, ext. 281.
