GOING VEGAS
Binion's sold for $32M this time

By Anthony Curtis

The legendry 55-year-old Binion's Hotel and Gambling Hall has been sold again, this time to TLC Casino Enterprises for $32 million in cash. TLC also owns the Four Queens, which is across the street from Binion's downtown. The seller, MTR Gaming Group, bought Binion's in 2004 for $20 million, but the property has been in the red ever since. The deal has to close by the end of the year (though TLC can request a six-month extension).

TRUMP TOPS OFF: The first Trump tower has been topped off. At the ceremony, Trump said the 1,282-unit condo came in under its $600 million budget and made $1.3 billion in sales. The buyers won't begin moving in, however, until the middle of 2008 at the earliest.

SASSY AND TACKY: Dick's Last Resort is scheduled to open at the Excalibur. This bar-food joint, known for the rude behavior of its employees, has popular franchises nationwide.

CRISP AND ANGRY: Can you guess what this is? It's an appetizer at Las Vegas' latest celebrity-chef restaurant, David Burke at the Venetian. The crisp and angry lobster is fantastic, but be warned: It comes with a $24 price tag, which is indicative of the pricey nature of this restaurant.

Q. Are the casinos making a big deal out of the 07/07/07 date next week?

A. Of course, given that many gamblers will be hoping to have some sort of magic power on that day. The reality, though, is that casinos will still win the money. One sector that's anticipating perhaps its biggest day ever is the wedding industry. It seems lots of couples think reciting their vows on the big 777 is a good start.
