HARARI, NEIMAN MARCUS PAIR UP ON BUTTERFLY PRINT: Japanese-American designer Barbara Keller Harari has been creating elegant clothes with Asian flair for 30 years. Now for the first time she has paired with Neiman Marcus to create an exclusive butterfly print in luscious silk. The print is unveiled at the C.S. Wo Gallery at 702 Beretania St. You can see the print, as well as a retrospective of the Harari/Neiman Marcus history, through Feb. 28.

PAKISTANI MINERAL EXPERT IN TOWN: Ghulam Sabir Rasool, a mineral expert from Pakistan, will be lecturing on gems and minerals (and politics as an aside) and meeting the public at Gem Hunters in the Waikiki Galleria at 2222 Kalakaua Ave.

From 4:30 to 7 p.m Wednesday, Gem Hunters will host a party to greet him. Lectures will be offered at 11 a.m., 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday, Feb. 23 and 24.

LOCAL JEWELRY DESIGNER WINS SWAROVSKI AWARD: Valeen Hirata of Creations By You in Liliha recently took second place in the professional category in the prestigious National Swarovski Crystal jewelry design competition called "Create Your Style" in Tucson, Ariz.

Her winning collection is called Passionate Flower. It consists of earrings, a bracelet and necklace of handmade flowers and leaves made of Swarovski crystals and wire. Colors are golden shadow and silver shade.

Sorry, it's not for sale. Swarovski now owns it. Hirata did it for love ... and passion.
