'EWA BEACH
'Ewa Weed & Seed gets $10,000 Haseko grant

Advertiser Staff

The 'Ewa Weed & Seed Initiative has been awarded a $10,000 grant by the Haseko Training Fund to help run the culinary arts program for James Campbell High School students.

The program exposes Campbell students to the culinary arts industry and culminates in a luncheon that is planned and prepared by the participants, who then present their finished dishes to guests and supporters. About 25 students participate in the annual six-week course and earn a half- credit toward their high school diploma.

Supporters of Weed & Seed are still seeking additional funding. Interested donors are asked to make checks out to the YMCA of Honolulu, which has served as Weed & Seed's fiscal agent for nearly 10 years.

Haseko is developer of the master-planned Ocean Pointe community and the upcoming Hoakalei Resort, both in 'Ewa Beach.
