Kawamoto to say 'Hello' from Vegas

 •  Pigskin picks

Advertiser Staff

Each Wednesday evening when he goes to King Street Zippy's to drop off his Pigskin Picks ballot, Floyd Kawamoto runs into the same trio of guys.

"Every week I say, 'Hello,' " said Kawamoto, a 51-year-old salesman from 'Ewa Beach. "They see me and one of the guys says, 'You going win this time?' "

Now, Kawamoto says: "I can tell I did win ... Maybe it was a blessing from them."

Kawamoto, a graduate of the University of Hawai'i and Kubasaki High School in his hometown of Okinawa, correctly picked the winners of all 13 games. His ballot was picked from among all the perfect ballots. He wins a trip for two to Las Vegas and $500.

"You never think you're gonna win, you just put it in. You win, you win," he said.

Kawamoto, who has been playing this game for the past few years, said he has no strategy.

"Just lucky luck," he said.

Although he'll take his family (wife and two daughters) to Las Vegas, he wants this trip to go to his oldest daughter (Alyssa) who just turned 21 in August.

His other daughter (Eryn) turns 21 next December, "so I'll have to win another trip. I'll try again next season."

In there's any advice, Kawamoto said, "I like to think good things happen to good people, so all you good people turn in your ballots."
