Hall, Gaines to speak at swimming clinics

The O'ahu Club will host two swimming clinics featuring former Olympic gold medal winners.

Tomorrow, Gary Hall Jr. and Anthony Ervin are scheduled to appear at the clinic. The guest speaker will be Ernie Maglischo, who won 13 national championships as a collegiate swimming coach.

On Oct. 8, Rowdy Gaines is scheduled to be the guest speaker.

Both clinics will run from 9 a.m. to noon. On Oct. 8, there also will be an age group competition starting at 1 p.m.

Entry fee is $20 for both clinics, and includes a T-shirt and entry into the swim meet. Entry fee for attending only one clinic is $15.

TRIATHLON

JAMBA JUICE KEIKI EVENT SET FOR OCT. 1

The Jamba Juice Keiki Triathlon Championship will be Oct. 1 at Ko Olina Resort at 8 a.m.

The race is open to children from ages 7 to 14.

Entry fee is $35, plus $3 for a one-day USA Triathlon license.

In the 7-8 age group, competitors will swim 50 meters, bike 1 mile and run .5 mile.

In the other age groups, broken down into 9-10, 11-12 and 13-14, competitors will swim 100 meters, bike 2.5 miles and run 1.3 miles.

TAEKWONDO

Islands championship set for Pearl City H.S.

The Hawaiian Islands Taekwondo Championships are set for Sept. 24 at Pearl City High School. The entry deadline is tomorrow.

Cost is $40 for the first event and $12 for the second event. Admission is $3, with children 6 and under free.

KEIKI TRAINING RUNS SET AT NIKETOWN

Niketown is offering free keiki training runs in Waikiki on Sept. 24 and Oct. 1 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 am.

The sessions are to prepare runners for the Niketown 5K for Kids run Oct. 2.

Entry fee is $15 plus $5 for a Niketown 5K T-shirt. Entry forms are available at Niketown in Waikiki and all Jamba Juice locations on O'ahu. Online entries are available at www.nikego.com.
