Homeless man held in arson case

A 38-year-old homeless man was arrested in Wahiawa Wednesday after he allegedly set fire to a tent in an area where homeless people live.
Police said the man who was arrested had been arguing with another man and that the two men left the area. Police said witnesses reported seeing the suspect return about 1:10 p.m. and set fire to the other man's tent.
Firefighters were called to the scene to extinguish the fire, which damaged the tent and several nearby trees.
Police arrived and arrested the man on suspicion of second-degree criminal property damage.
SUSPECT ARRESTED ON FORGERY CHARGE
Police arrested a 20-year-old homeless man at Pearlridge Center Wednesday night after he allegedly tried to cash a $650 check that had been stolen during a Nov. 4 car break-in.
Officers went to the mall and arrested the suspect for suspicion of second-degree forgery.
BOY, 15, HELD IN SEXUAL ASSAULT
A 15-year-old boy was arrested at a Kalihi school Wednesday after a 15-year-old girl classmate told school officials the boy sexually assaulted her on school property. Police did not disclose which school was involved.
The boy was identified by the victim and was arrested for suspicion of four counts of third-degree sexual assault and one count of kidnapping.
The boy was released without charges pending further investigation.
DRIVER SOUGHT IN HIT-AND-RUN CASE
CrimeStoppers and Honolulu police are asking for the public's help in finding the car and driver involved in a hit-and-run collision earlier this month that left a 55-year-old woman with a broken leg.
Police said the woman was crossing Varsity Circle at University Avenue about 4:25 a.m. Sept. 10 when a four-door, white sedan ran into her, knocking her to the ground. The driver was making a left turn from University into Varsity Circle.
In addition to a broken femur, the victim received a number of bruises and is still hospitalized.
