STARS

QUARTERBACKS

  • Jake Delhomme, Panthers, finished 21 for 30 for 341 yards and three touchdowns while stretching Carolina's winning streak to four games with a 38-13 romp over Minnesota.

  • Drew Brees, Chargers, threw three touchdown passes and finished with 324 yards in a 28-20 victory over the Chiefs. Brees completed 25 of 43 passes, with TD throws of 19, 20 and 35 yards to Antonio Gates.

  • Jake Plummer, Broncos, finished with a season-high 309 yards and threw for four touchdowns in a 49-21 victory over Philadelphia.

    RECEIVERS

  • Steve Smith, Panthers, humiliated Minnesota's defense with a franchise-record 201 yards and a score. He had 11 catches.

  • Antonio Gates, Chargers, had 10 catches for 145 yards, both career highs, and three TDs, tying a career best, in a 28-20 decision over Kansas City.

  • Terrell Owens, Eagles, finished with three catches for 154 yards, including a 91-yard TD play that was the longest of his career, but Philadelphia lost 49-21 at Denver.

    RUNNING BACKS

  • Steven Jackson, Rams, had 179 yards on 25 carries and scored the winning touchdown in a 24-21 victory against Jacksonville. In that game, the Jaguars' Fred Taylor, who was questionable with a bruised right ankle, had 165 yards on 23 carries, including a 71-yard scoring run.

  • Tiki Barber, Giants, ran for a career-high 206 yards and a touchdown. He ran for 57 yards on the game's first play and had a 59-yarder in the second quarter.

  • Rookie Marion Barber, Cowboys, ran for 127 yards and two touchdowns on 27 carries in his first start, a 34-13 rout of Arizona.

  • RB LaDainian Tomlinson, Chargers, got his fourth career touchdown pass and third this season.

    SPECIAL TEAMS

  • Jay Feely's five field goals for the Giants tied a career best he set for Atlanta against Detroit in 2002.

  • Kris Brown kicked a 40-yard field goal, his fourth of the day, with 2:45 remaining, to give Houston its first win this season, 19-16 over Cleveland.

  • Joe Nedney, 49ers, supplied all his team's points with five field goals, from 45, 47, 41, 46 and 28 yards, in a 15-10 win over Tampa Bay.

    MILESTONES

  • Brett Favre passed John Elway for second place in career passes and yards. Favre surpassed Elway's marks early in the fourth quarter of Green Bay's 21-14 loss at Cincinnati and has 51,595 yards and 7,264 attempts. Dan Marino holds the league records with 61,361 yards and 8,358 passes.

But Favre also threw five interceptions, the most he's had in a regular-season game — he had six in a playoff loss to St. Louis during the 2001 season.

  • Marshall Faulk gained 23 yards rushing to surpass Franco Harris for 10th in career yards with 12,129.

    INJURIES

QB Daunte Culpepper, Vikings, sprained his right knee and coach Mike Tice was not optimistic that he would play again this season. ... WR Anquan Boldin, Cardinals, hurt his right knee, likely a torn meniscus — the same injury that forced him to miss six games last season. An MRI exam will be done Monday to determine the severity of the injury.

    INACTIVE

DE Simeon Rice, Bucs, was deactivated and sent home before the game at San Francisco for an undisclosed violation of club policy. Rice, a 10-year veteran who has been selected for three Pro Bowls, led the Buccaneers with five sacks in six games.
