QUICK BITES
New restaurant guide in today's Advertiser

Advertiser Staff

Today in The Advertiser, you'll find the 2005-06 Hawai'i's Best Restaurants — a free guide to eating out (and taking out) all over the Islands. As always, the opening chapter reveals our 2005 'Ilima Award winners, as judged by our readers and our in-house food experts. The 'Ilima Awards event, a benefit for Diamond Head Theatre, is set for Monday evening with a show of Broadway parodies honoring the winners, followed by an evening of dining and dancing. A few individual seats remain at $175. Call 733-0277, ext. 305.

The 68-page magazine-style guide is tucked into the paper, so be sure to pull it out and keep it around to consult throughout the year.

Eateries donating proceeds from your meal to Katrina victims

Fifteen thousand restaurants around the country, and many in Hawai'i, are participating in the Dine for America event tonight, sponsored by the National Restaurant Association, donating a portion of the night's proceeds to Hurricane Katrina victims through the Red Cross.

Among the participants: Auntie Pasto's, Big City Diner, Café Laufer, Compadres Bar & Grill, Dixie Grill, Gyotaku, Hong Kong Harbor View, Hula Grill, Keoki's Paradise, Kimo's, Kincaid's, Korner Pocket, Leilani's on the Beach, L'Uraku, Ocean Club, Palomino, Red Lobster, Roy's Restaurant, Ryan's, Shanghai Bistro, Sizzler, Tiki's Grill & Bar, Tony Roma's, Yummy. To find a restaurant, see www.dineforamerica.org/find/ and search by name or ZIP code. The site also tells how much of the proceeds the restaurant has pledged; some restaurants are giving 100 percent.
